Welcome to The Quiet Transition
Start Here
For me, noticing changes in my partner and in myself over the past few years has raised a lot of questions. Maybe some of you have noticed the same, things that feel different, tricky, or surprising in daily life or in your relationship.
I’m Simon, and I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make sense of this stage, not just for me but for the relationships I care about. I’m not a therapist, and I’m not here to give advice on what your partner should do. What I am here for is to share what I’ve noticed, what has worked, and what has been tricky, practical, grounded observations from someone trying to navigate this alongside you.
This Substack is a space to explore what’s happening in your relationship, to notice patterns, and to think about how to show up in ways that actually matter. It’s not about fixing your partner, diagnosing mood swings, or giving advice to women. It’s about understanding, presence, and shared insight.
I’ll be sharing stories, reflections, and ideas I’ve come across along the way. Sometimes it will be about things that surprised me, sometimes about small actions that actually made a difference, and sometimes just about the everyday moments that feel a little off or confusing. My hope is this can be a place to think about what’s happening in your own relationship and maybe share what’s working for you too.
I’ve found A Couple’s Guide to Menopause: Navigating the Change Together helpful for understanding the shifts couples go through in this stage. It’s a perspective I wish I had sooner.
To start, I’m curious: what’s one small thing you’ve noticed recently in your relationship that felt different or caught your attention?
